Trump again attacks Ukraine — what did Kyiv do wrong
US President Donald Trump on Truth Social accused Ukraine of causing rising gasoline prices, claiming that strikes on Russian oil refineries are destabilizing the market. He also criticized the Democratic Party for closing refineries in the US. Trump has previously linked the fuel crisis to Kyiv's actions.
US President Donald Trump has again criticized Ukraine, this time linking Kyiv's actions to rising gasoline prices. On Monday, October 5, on Truth Social, he wrote that the problem is no longer the Strait of Hormuz, but Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries. Trump also accused the Democratic Party of closing refineries in states where its voters traditionally support it. This is not Trump's first statement on the topic: on October 1, he already linked the fuel market situation to Ukraine's strikes on Russia's energy infrastructure, and on September 13, he called on President Zelensky to stop these strikes, linking them to a diesel shortage. Amid the shortage, Moscow extended its ban on diesel exports until the end of October and restricted exports of gasoline and aviation fuel. The Trump administration is considering options to lower prices, including limiting or banning diesel exports and voluntarily reducing foreign supplies. The White House has also urged EU countries to use part of their strategic diesel reserves.
