"Traitor, traitor, traitor": Pro-Palestinians for the first time against Mamedani - at the rally marking October 7
US President Trump published a post marking three years since the October 7 massacre, vowing to stand against terror. In contrast, House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries attacked Israel and demanded a commitment to establishing a Palestinian state. At a rally in New York, pro-Palestinians called Mayor Zohran Mamedani a "traitor" as he arrived at the event.
US President Donald Trump published a post on Truth Social marking three years since the October 7 massacre, describing the day as "one of the darkest and worst days in Israel's history" and vowing: "We will never forget October 7. We will always stand against the forces of terror and evil." In contrast, House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries attacked Israel and called for a "dramatic change" in US policy in the Middle East. Jeffries condemned Israel's actions, called the death in Gaza "obscene," and demanded a US commitment to establishing a Palestinian state, but clarified that the US would continue its commitment to Israel's right to exist. At a rally in Union Square in New York, organized by the group "Israelis for Peace," pro-Palestinian protesters arrived chanting "Long live Hamas" and "Death to the IDF" and disrupted the ceremony. Mayor Zohran Mamedani arrived at the scene and was greeted with chants of "traitor, traitor, traitor." In an interview with NY1, Mamedani said it was "the third anniversary of a terrible war crime" by Hamas, but also "the day the Israeli government responded by committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza."
