Torture of a Martyr's Father in PA Prisons in Jenin
The Committee of Families of Political Prisoners in the West Bank revealed the arrest and torture of the father of martyr Abdul Rahman Abu al-Muna inside the prisons of the Palestinian Authority security services, following his demand to hold those responsible for his son's death accountable. The committee said he was detained for more than ten days, subjected to beatings and suspension from the ceiling, and forced to drop the case.
The Committee of Families of Political Prisoners in the West Bank revealed on Wednesday that the father of martyr Abdul Rahman Abu al-Muna was arrested and tortured inside the prisons of the Palestinian Authority security services, following his demand to hold those responsible for his son's death accountable. The committee said in a statement that the father was detained for more than ten days in the cells of the Authority's intelligence services, before being transferred to an investigation committee in al-Junaid prison in Nablus. It indicated that, according to its account, he was subjected to torture, beatings, and suspension from the ceiling for several days. It added that the arrest coincided with pressure exerted on him regarding a case he filed demanding accountability for those responsible for his son's death, noting that he was forced to drop the case and the demand to hold those involved accountable. The committee affirmed that the statements and waivers it said were extracted under torture do not negate the family's right to demand justice, calling for an investigation into these allegations and accountability for those responsible. The committee condemned what it described as violations against the father, and urged national forces and human rights institutions to follow up on the case and investigate the circumstances of Abdul Rahman Abu al-Muna's death and the allegations regarding his father's torture.
