Police have located the tool suspected of being used in the murder of Fatima al-Rajabi, a 61-year-old from East Jerusalem. Meanwhile, a resident of the eastern part of the city in his 60s, arrested on suspicion of murder, conducted a reconstruction of his actions at the scene where the body was found, which was transferred to the Abu Kabir forensic institute for identification and determination of the circumstances of her death, which is still ongoing. During the investigation, suspicion arose that the suspect and the victim had prior acquaintance. Al-Rajabi's family claimed that the suspect murdered her after she demanded repayment of a 60,000 shekel debt. According to the family, the suspect was mired in gambling debts, murdered her to eliminate the debt, and then hid her body in a cave near his home in the At-Tur area. Family relative Tayseer al-Rajabi added that the suspect also stole Fatima's gold jewelry, her money, and her bank card, which he used to withdraw additional funds. The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court extended the suspect's remand by nine days. Hundreds of volunteers, including many residents of East Jerusalem, took part in searches for al-Rajabi last week, who was initially defined as missing. The missing woman's son harshly criticized the police's conduct, claiming that significant searches for his mother began late, and that if she were a Jewish woman, they would have acted faster. Shalem station commander, Deputy Chief Shalom Cohen, rejected the claims and stated that the investigation was conducted from the very first moment and that many efforts and technological means were invested.
