The real reason Eisenkot invited Netanyahu to a televised debate
Strategic advisor Nimrod Eliran Sabach claims that Gadi Eisenkot's invitation to Benjamin Netanyahu for a televised debate was intended to establish his status as the leader of the opposition bloc, against the backdrop of internal chaos in the left bloc and a lack of clarity regarding the identity of the candidate for prime minister.
Strategic advisor Nimrod Eliran Sabach was interviewed by Tal Meir and claimed that Gadi Eisenkot's invitation to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for a televised debate is an attempt to establish Eisenkot's status as the leader of the opposition bloc. According to Sabach, the left bloc is in internal chaos over the question of leadership, and the uncertainty is also seeping through to voters. Sabach cited a meeting at Yair Lapid's home, where it was made clear that at this stage they are not dealing with the identity of who will head the bloc. He defined the situation as a 'huge crisis' and explained that Eisenkot is trying to differentiate himself from the other parties. In his view, the significant battle is over the votes of the undecided, and the internal struggles could drive them away from the polls.
