On Friday evening, Israeli occupation forces set fire to the government hospital in Mais al-Jabal in the Marjeyoun district of southern Lebanon, in an attack targeting a civilian health facility. The fire spread to ambulances, diesel tanks, the hospital's generator, and transmission stations. The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that the hospital was completely destroyed, condemning the incident as a "barbaric crime" and a "blatant and brutal assault." The ministry noted that the hospital had undergone maintenance and rehabilitation and was equipped with modern medical devices to serve residents of border areas and displaced persons. The ministry accused the occupation forces of previously positioning themselves in the hospital and turning it into a military site before burning it, calling on the international community to act. In the Bint Jbeil district, two people were injured by Israeli artillery shelling. The escalation comes amid ongoing Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon since the resumption of military operations on March 2, 2026. The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that the number of martyrs since March 2 has risen to 4,386 and the wounded to 12,407. The total toll since October 8, 2023, has reached 8,953 martyrs and 30,643 wounded.
