Dozens of rabbis, dayanim and heads of yeshivas from the religious-Zionist sector gathered in Jerusalem for the annual plenum of the 'Lechatchila' monetary rabbinical court network for the year 5787, held at the Kohelet Forum. A moving moment was recorded when Rabbi Eitan Shner gave each of the participating dayanim and rabbis a set of books published in memory and for the elevation of the soul of his daughter Rina, may God avenge her blood, murdered in a terror attack seven years ago. Alongside the tribute, participants dealt with professional issues relating to the work of the dayanim, including the drafting of rulings, decision-making, enforcement and appeal procedures. Rabbi Arie Katz gave a practical workshop on drafting and editing rulings. Rabbi Nir Aviv, chairman of the network, said that the path to a true repair of the justice system does not pass only through criticism, but through creating a constructive alternative. Rabbi Ariel Brali presented the appeal and oversight mechanisms, and Rabbi Yoazar Ariel gave a study lesson on the status of a permanent court. The conference combined professional discussions on the work of the monetary courts with the commemoration of Rina Shner.
