The election bribery affair and the Ra'am party become more complicated: Netanyahu's office enters the picture
In the affair of the suspected election bribery in Ra'am, a suspect requests to cancel his house arrest following reports of involvement by a figure from Netanyahu's office in providing information to the police commissioner. His attorney claims political interference; the police oppose.
In the affair of the alleged election bribery by activists of the Ra'am party, one of the suspects under house arrest is requesting to cancel his release conditions. This follows publications about the involvement of a senior figure in the Prime Minister's office in providing initial information to the police commissioner before the arrests. His attorney, Sara Habib, argues that the grounds for arrest – obstruction of the investigation – are fading when political figures meddle in the investigation. According to her, the intelligence information that incriminated the suspect originated from the outgoing Prime Minister's office, a party with a clear political interest in the election results. The police have announced they oppose the request. The suspect was arrested on October 29, 2026, and released under restrictive conditions until November 5.
