Irony at its finest: Iran declares British Army and MI6 terrorist organizations

Iran's Foreign Ministry announced that Iran defines the British Air Force and Navy as terrorist organizations, and classifies MI6 as a 'hostile group', in response to what it called 'hostile actions' by Britain, including permitting the use of military facilities during the war and designating the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps under the UK's state threats law.

Iran's Foreign Ministry announced this morning (Sunday) that Iran defines the British Air Force and Navy as terrorist organizations, and classifies the British intelligence agency MI6 as a 'hostile group', according to a report by the Iranian opposition channel 'Iran International'. The measures are intended as a response to what Iran called 'Britain's hostile actions' over the past year, including permitting the use of military and logistical facilities on British territory during the war against the United States and Israel, and designating Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps under the UK's state threats law in July. It was further stated that Iran's espionage law, which deals with cooperation with Israel and hostile states, will also apply to the British intelligence service MI6. Iran's Foreign Ministry described the announcements as reciprocal steps following the American designation of the Revolutionary Guards as a terrorist organization. The step marks a further escalation in relations between the two countries, after British Prime Minister Andy Burnham accused Iran of attempting an attack on the RAF Fairford airbase last month.
