The corruption affair at the Kfar Saba municipality, which erupted this morning, continues to branch out. As part of the covert investigation, which lasted about a year and a half, the name of a well-known veteran singer came up in one of the testimonies collected by the police. According to the testimony, the singer had a close relationship with Mayor Rafi Sa'ar and his wife Meital Bana'adi. He met with them at restaurants, sang for them at birthdays and performed at their private events. There is also a claim that the Kfar Saba municipality arranged several performances for the singer at the city's culture hall under allegedly preferential conditions, compared with other singers who performed there. The police are expected to examine the relationship between the singer and the couple and the circumstances of how the performances were arranged. However, as of now, the singer is not suspected of anything, and if he is required to come to the police, he is expected to give testimony only. In parallel, the bribery affair in which Sa'ar and his wife are suspected reaches tens of millions of shekels in projects, including suspicions of bribery, fraud and breach of trust, money laundering and tax offenses. The tenders touched on areas such as urban renewal, street food trucks, transportation, lighting and city cleaning, and renovation of educational institutions.
