"The chance is slim": Abbas's pessimism in closed meeting

Ra'am chairman Mansour Abbas said in a closed meeting that the chances of a minority government are slim to nonexistent, after it became clear that the Jewish majority is on Netanyahu's side. Final results: Netanyahu bloc 53, Eisenkot bloc 48, Arab parties 19.

Ra'am chairman Mansour Abbas said in a closed meeting of the party leadership that "the chances of a minority government are slim to nonexistent," as revealed on the main news edition. Abbas himself conceived the idea of a minority government supported by Ra'am, contingent on a Jewish majority for the change bloc, an idea adopted by Gadi Eisenkot. After the elections, it became clear that the Jewish majority is actually on Netanyahu's side, so Abbas assessed the chance is slim, partly due to the need for negotiations with the Joint List and its factions, including Balad. According to the final results, the Netanyahu bloc received 53 seats, the Eisenkot bloc 48, and the Arab parties 19. The leading options for forming a government are a Netanyahu-Eisenkot unity government or another round of elections.
