The borders are breached, the army is worn out: Israel is not ready for the next war | Maj. Gen. (res.) Yitzhak Brik

Maj. Gen. (res.) Yitzhak Brik warns that three years after October 7, Israel is repeating the same mistakes that led to the disaster. According to him, the political and military echelons are ignoring current warnings that are dozens of times more severe than those before the attack, the army is not prepared for the intensifying threats, and the next warning may come too late.

Maj. Gen. (res.) Yitzhak Brik warns in an opinion piece that Israel is not ready for the next war, three years after the October 7, 2023 disaster. Brik claims that the political and military echelons, as well as the Shin Bet and Mossad, continue to ignore current warnings, which are dozens of times more severe than those before the attack. He notes that the same complacency and arrogance prevail, and that no lessons have been learned. As an example of ignoring warnings, Brik cites the incident of the co-pilot from Oman who tried to crash a Flydubai plane with over a hundred Israeli passengers. Brik states that such pilots have entered Israel hundreds of times without proper supervision. He warns that the apathy continues, and that none of the decision-makers are raising their heads to warn of the impending disaster, drawing a comparison to the destruction of the First and Second Temples, the Holocaust, the Mount Meron disaster, and the Gaza envelope.
