An unusual rescue incident on Haifa's beaches: A woman who went swimming at Carmel Beach was swept southward for about three kilometers, all the way to Dado South Beach. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon, after the official bathing season had ended. Two women entered the water at Carmel Beach, near the Meridian Hotel. After some time, one of the women came out of the water and approached the station's lifeguards when she noticed her friend had not returned with her. Immediately upon receiving the report, beach security teams, under the management of Mike Dibi, the beach security officer, began searches along the coastline. Meanwhile, at Dado South Beach, Amir Askhak, a lifeguard at Station 5, noticed a woman swimming in a way that aroused his suspicion. Askhak reported to Station 6 manager Ilan Ben-David, who dispatched lifeguards Bilal and Khalil on a jet ski. The lifeguards located the woman as she was exhausted and in a state of collapse, brought her onto the jet ski, and safely returned her to shore. Rita Sessi, director of the beaches department at the Haifa Municipality, praised the lifeguards' performance and reminded the public that the sea can be dangerous even on pleasant days.
