Master Sergeant Adir Levi, a detective at the Netivot station, recounts in an interview with 103FM the rescue of Mossad chief Roman Gofman on October 7, 2023. Levi says that at the start of the alarms, he was called from his station, drove toward Sderot, and encountered heavy fire at the Sha'ar HaNegev junction. While crawling under fire, he noticed a wounded soldier lying down and realized it was a major general — Roman Gofman. Levi treated Gofman's severe wound with a tourniquet thrown to him under fire, evacuated him to his vehicle amid RPG fire, and drove him to meet a rescue union ambulance. Along the way, he tried to keep Gofman conscious. After handing over the wounded, Levi returned to the YASAM fighters so as not to leave them alone in the battle. He describes the magnitude of the failure and the feeling that no one anticipated such a scale of infiltration from Gaza.
