Statistics: Industrial production index rises by 1.21% in August

The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics announced a 1.21% increase in the industrial production index for August 2026 compared to July, reaching 84.68. Electricity and gas activities rose by 14.12%, while manufacturing decreased by 0.60%. Additionally, 11% of industrial establishments in Gaza resumed operations.

The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics reported a 1.21% increase in the industrial production index for August 2026 compared to the previous month (July), reaching 84.68 (base year 2019 = 100). Electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply activities saw a notable increase of 14.12%, representing a relative importance of 7.38% of total industrial activities. Water supply, sewage, waste management, and remediation activities also rose by 6.24%. In contrast, manufacturing activities, which form the backbone of the sector with a relative importance of 87.89%, decreased by 0.60%. This decline included key industries such as non-metallic mineral products, textiles, chemicals, and tobacco. On the other hand, some activities saw increases, including the manufacture of pharmaceutical products, clothing, furniture, and food products. Mining and quarrying activities also decreased by 0.43%. The statistics indicated that only 11% of industrial establishments in the Gaza Strip resumed operations in August, out of 114 establishments in the sample.
