SolarEdge in another round of layoffs: firing 200 employees

SolarEdge is laying off approximately 200 employees (about 10% of its workforce) in another round of cuts. This follows an improvement in the second quarter of 2026 results, but a lower-than-expected forecast led to a sharp drop in the stock. Only a few dozen of the laid-off employees are in Israel.

The Israeli solar energy company SolarEdge is laying off approximately 200 employees, about 10% of its workforce, in another round of cuts. According to market sources, only a few dozen are in Israel. The move comes after the company showed improvement in its second quarter of 2026 results: revenues of $346 million (an increase of about 20%), a reduction in net loss to $16 million from $115 million, and a return to Non-GAAP operating profit of about $10 million for the first time since the second quarter of 2023. However, the revenue forecast for the third quarter, $310-340 million, was below analyst expectations of about $371 million, leading to a drop of over 20% in the stock in August. The company, founded in 2006 and led by CEO Shuki Nir, has implemented several efficiency measures in recent years, including laying off 900 employees in January 2024, 400 in July 2024, and 400 in January 2025, amid slowing demand in key markets and inventory buildup. The CEO noted that the company continues to recover thanks to strong demand in Europe and among commercial customers in the US, alongside expanding into energy solutions for AI infrastructure.
