Sisi: Our defense of Saudi Arabia does not include attacking Yemen... Iran: Egypt's entry into war makes situation more difficult

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi affirmed that Egypt's defense of Saudi Arabia is limited to protecting its territory and borders and does not include attacking Yemen, during a session at the Egypt 2026 forum. In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that any intervention by Egypt or another country would further complicate the situation.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi stated on Wednesday that Egypt's military effort to defend Saudi Arabia does not include launching an attack on Yemen, and that the intention is to defend the Kingdom's territory and borders, as well as the territory of any other Arab country if requested. This came during his participation in a session on "National and Citizen Security" on the third day of the Egypt 2026 forum, attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and several ministers and senior officials, according to a statement from the Egyptian presidency. Sisi emphasized that Arab national security is indivisible and that the stability of Gulf states is linked to Egypt's national security. In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that any intervention by Egypt or any other country would further complicate the situation. The Saudi Press Agency also reported that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed regional developments and coordination of efforts with the Egyptian Foreign Minister.
