American sources told Israel's Channel 12 that dozens of fighter jets and refueling aircraft belonging to the Israeli Air Force carried out, on Monday night - Tuesday, an aerial maneuver that reached a close distance from the Iranian border, before returning to Israel. According to the sources, the aircraft flew over Syria and Iraq, on a path simulating the execution of an attack on Iran. The sources indicated that Israel informed the United States in advance of the aerial maneuver, presenting it as training aimed at displaying military strength and deterring Tehran, while Israeli and American officials said the move was not exceptional. However, the American sources said their impression was that Israel may have hoped this step would push Iran to fire at the aircraft, thereby providing a pretext for launching an attack on it. They added that the maneuver could have led to a miscalculation on the Iranian side, prompting a response from Tehran, which could lead to a major military escalation and even a resumption of war. The revelation of this maneuver coincides with the visit of US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth to Israel.
