Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar arrived at the Central Elections Committee and declared that the elections are safe and proper, despite the war and threats. Bar emphasized that there are attempts to harm the system, but the security apparatus is working to thwart them.
Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar arrived today (Tuesday) at the Central Elections Committee and delivered a reassuring statement regarding the purity and integrity of the elections. Bar opened by thanking the committee chairman, Judge Noam Sohlberg, and the committee staff for their work over the past year. In a message to Israeli citizens, Bar emphasized: "We can confidently tell the citizens of Israel that the elections in Israel are safe, with integrity and supervised control in an inspiring manner." He addressed the threats: "There are challenges, and there are those who try to harm this system, but there is a system here that does everything to ensure it is as it should be." Bar also referred to the significance of holding elections during wartime: "After 2,000 years, we have a state, and we are in a war, with many enemies around, and we manage to hold this day." He called Election Day "a great holiday of Israeli democracy" and expressed hope that voter turnout would be high.
