United Torah Judaism open to cooperation with Lieberman, conditions on conscription law
A senior United Torah Judaism figure said cooperation with Avigdor Lieberman is possible if the conscription law advances; Lieberman did not rule out sitting with Haredi parties but called the law unrealistic.
A senior official in United Torah Judaism said that political cooperation with Yisrael Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Liberman is possible, despite tensions between the sides in recent years. According to him, "You can do business with him. In the past he certainly did business with UTJ and Shas, endlessly." However, the official emphasized that the conscription law is a central condition: "This is the first and main key. If there is a conscription law, I assume there will be something to talk about. If not, there is nothing to talk about at all." These remarks come after Liberman did not rule out sitting with the Haredi parties but clarified that he wants a government "without Arabs, without Haredim, without Netanyahu."
