Dr. Terence Chong Tai-leung, a senior economics lecturer and deputy head of New Asia College at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), issued a public apology on Facebook following remarks perceived as sexist and misogynistic during a lecture on life investment. In the lecture, he advised female students to reconsider doctoral studies due to the "value" attributed to youth in the marriage market, and recommended they "marry into wealth." Students formed a monitoring group and began circulating a petition demanding his immediate suspension pending a thorough investigation. The university administration has yet to respond.
