Former Deputy State Attorney Yehuda Shfer criticized the defense's conduct in the Netanyahu trial in an interview with 103FM, claiming that "the defendant has become the accuser." According to him, instead of the court addressing whether the defendant committed an offense, about ninety-something percent of the investigations in the trial focus on whether the police and prosecution acted lawfully. Shfer complained that "this is not proper, this is not how a trial is conducted." He referred to Avichai Mandelblit's testimony, saying that Mandelblit gave his consent to certain checks, and that checks conducted without prior approval received retroactive consent. Shfer added that he prefers "a police force that is galloping horses that need to be reined in, rather than lazy donkeys that are unwilling to expose methods." Mandelblit himself told the judges that a journalist attacked him with questions outside the courtroom, and he was careful not to discuss the trial in the media.
