Sagit Alkobi-Fishman: 77 percent is not a draft

77.7% voter turnout - the highest since 1999. Sagit Alkobi-Fishman analyzes the Likud narrative that she claims is preparing the ground for new elections by accusing the Arab sector of voter fraud, and calls for forming a government without Likud.

77.7% - that is the highest voter turnout in Israeli elections since 1999, and the central figure in the opinion piece by Dr. Sagit Alkobi-Fishman. President Isaac Herzog called it "a badge of honor for Israeli society," but two days after the elections, talk of another round has already begun. Fishman argues that Likud, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, is building a narrative that presents the Arab vote as a threat and then as theft, in order to justify new elections. She notes that the police said there is no investigative basis for the fraud allegations, and the number of complaints is lower than before. Fishman calls for forming a government without Likud, based on recognition of the equality of all votes.
