Staff Sergeant Ron Yonatan Reutman, who fell in the deadly shooting attack near Hebron, dreamed of serving in the naval commando and trained hard for the selection process, but an injury changed his plans and he fought to serve in a combat role. In a video he filmed before his enlistment for the communications track at the Kadoori youth village, he documented the grueling preparations and said: "I want the highest, because if you already have the option - maximum, reach for the stars." His close friend Itai Yurman, who directed the video, was updated during a trip to Italy and returned to Israel. The youth village director, Roi Bar Ilan, and the house mother, Anat Abu Hatzira, eulogized him. Alongside Ron, Sergeant Yuval Shai Suilam was also killed, and following the attack, the IDF and Shin Bet launched a widespread operation in the city from which the terrorists set out. Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir said the outcome of the encounter is painful, but the initial investigation indicates that a more serious attack was prevented.
