The Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat reported that Hezbollah made clear to Iran that it would not intervene on its behalf if a new war broke out with the US and Israel. According to the report, the clarification was conveyed to Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri. Meanwhile, it was reported that Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh updated Lebanese parliament members that Tehran would not ask Hezbollah to intervene, as it can handle matters alone. However, the Iranian embassy in Lebanon denied the reports about the content of Khatibzadeh's meetings. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called for a return to negotiations with the US, blaming it for the failure of the previous agreement. These statements come amid reports of Iranian missile tests, the evacuation of American diplomats from the Middle East, and American and Israeli threats of attack.
