Reserve soldiers who reported for training at the Lachish Training Base last week are facing poor living conditions, sanitation hazards, and a lack of running water. A reserve soldier from the David Division, who is familiar with the base from a previous round in November 2025, described an outrageous situation: broken beds requiring a board under the mattress, food in disposable containers, and only one working water fountain out of three. According to him, in the previous round, over half a platoon suffered from stomach upset due to lack of hygiene in the kitchen, which harmed operational readiness. The soldiers report a sewage puddle in certain areas, repeated power outages, garbage everywhere, and old buses without air conditioning. Additionally, they are forced to organize donations for operational equipment such as uniforms, shoes, and helmets. The soldier noted that he loses money every day of reserve duty and demands at least three basic conditions: proper food, drinking water, and reasonable beds. An IDF spokesperson stated that the sewage problem has been addressed, and the claims about deficiencies in the sleeping quarters and kitchens were examined and are not recognized.
