Manslaughter: Indictment filed against driver who ran over and killed a man in central Israel

A serious indictment will be filed against Inbar Cahalon, 36, from Moshav Porat, suspected of running over and killing Amos Guata, 48, about a week and a half ago. Cahalon is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol, veering onto a sandy area, hitting Guata, and fleeing to her home, where her car was found with signs of damage. A test found she was under the influence of alcohol. She denied this, claiming she only drank after the accident. The prosecution will request her detention until the end of proceedings.

A serious indictment will be filed on Friday against Inbar Cahalon, 36, from Moshav Porat, suspected of running over and killing Amos Guata, 48, about a week and a half ago. According to the indictment, she is charged with manslaughter, leaving the scene after an accident, and drunk driving. It is suspected that on Saturday night, Guata was walking on a sandy area near the moshav when Cahalon veered off the road onto the area, hit him, and fled the scene. Shortly after, police arrived at Cahalon's home, where they found her BMW with signs of damage. A breathalyzer test indicated she was under the influence of alcohol. Cahalon denied in her investigation that she drove under the influence, claiming she only drank after arriving home. In a hearing today at the Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court, the police submitted a prosecutor's statement indicating the indictment will also include charges of reckless driving and lane deviation. Judge Oren Boaz extended her detention until Friday. The indictment will be filed at the Lod District Court, and the prosecution is expected to request her detention until the end of legal proceedings.
