Airstrikes in Yemen kill dozens, Houthis threaten retaliation
Multiple airstrikes in Yemen killed dozens of people, including women and children, according to Houthi sources. The Houthis blamed the Saudi-led coalition and threatened retaliation. Saudi Arabia reported intercepting a cruise missile.
The death toll from a Saudi airstrike on the village of Al-Shariya in Sanaa governorate has risen to 33 dead and 39 wounded, according to the Houthi-run health ministry. Saba news agency and Al-Masirah channel reported that most of the victims were women and children, and that Saudi warplanes struck six homes, medics, and roads leading to the site. In response, the Houthis announced they had targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Aramco facilities, and Saudi military gatherings. The Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted a cruise missile launched by the Houthis toward Riyadh. The head of the Houthi political council, Mahdi al-Mashat, vowed revenge. This escalation comes after the conflict in Yemen reignited in July 2026 following four years of relative calm.
