Former senior official on Trump: "The president knows that an attack on Iran may not solve the problem"

Dr. Eyal Hulata, former head of the National Security Council, warned in an interview on 103fm against a military attack on Iran that would not significantly harm its nuclear program. According to him, if Iran concludes that Israel and the US are unable to strike the fortified underground facility "Mount Makosh," it may concentrate its nuclear activity there. Hulata assessed that President Trump is far from a decision to attack, partly due to the results of the US midterm elections, which he said strengthen critical voices toward Israel. He distinguished between Israeli and American considerations, noting that in Israel there is interest "to go out and make a round" due to a lack of alternatives. Hulata also addressed Netanyahu-Trump relations, saying that alongside the president's support for Netanyahu, there are elements in his circle who believe the prime minister's policies harm Trump politically. He warned against the strengthening of negative voices toward Israel in the US, and cautioned that military pressure on Iran might actually strengthen its desire to obtain nuclear weapons.
