The Australian newspaper Sydney Morning Herald reported that billionaire James Packer transferred at least $1.25 million to the law firm Haddad Rot Shehar in Tel Aviv, which represents Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his trial. According to the investigation, the funds were transferred in monthly payments of $50,000 over two years from a company account controlled by Packer. The first payment was made on September 23, 2024, about eight weeks after Packer and Netanyahu renewed their ties. The newspaper emphasized that it has not been verified whether Netanyahu benefited from the funds. A source aware of the transfers called for an urgent examination. Netanyahu's spokesperson responded: "I don't care at all about your questions. We are very busy. We have elections now." Packer did not deny the payments but declined to comment. A source on his behalf claimed the payments were for work done for Packer and are unrelated to the trial. The newspaper requested documentation but has not yet received a response.
