Daniel Solomatov is charged with negligent homicide after attacking and stabbing his roommate, the late Yuri Korneev, to death. The incident began when Korneev allowed Solomatov's dog to escape from their shared apartment. During a subsequent argument, Solomatov attacked Korneev and left to search for his dog. Upon returning, Korneev approached Solomatov holding a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the back. In response, Solomatov punched Korneev, took the knife from him, and threw it away. Solomatov then chased Korneev into his room and struck him in the head, face, and chest, even after he lost consciousness. As a result of the severe violence, Korneev suffered serious multi-system injuries and died in the hospital about two weeks later. The prosecution is requesting Solomatov's detention until the end of proceedings, arguing that he acted out of revenge and not self-defense, using systematic combat skills.
