After a four-year pause, the IDF Combat Fitness Championship returned to Training Base 8 for a competitive week. About 2,500 soldiers and commanders from 49 units competed over three days in five main events: commander navigation in open terrain simulating southern Lebanon, a commander test, an obstacle course with tires simulating rubble in Gaza, a team test involving carrying a stretcher weighing 80 kg over a distance of 2 km, and a hand-to-hand combat test. The championship was adapted to combat lessons from various theaters. The Paratroopers Brigade took first place in the infantry brigade category, and the Paratroopers Reconnaissance Unit took first place in the infantry reconnaissance category. Shayetet 13 led in the special forces category, and cadets of the Naval Officers' Course won in the elite units category.
