Prof. Alon Korngreen: The ceremony is over

Prof. Alon Korngreen publishes a satirical column in 'Zman Yisrael' after the elections, in which he ironically awards 'certificates of excellence' to Israeli politicians for their actions in the last term and during the election campaign, while criticizing their policies.

Prof. Alon Korngreen, a biophysicist and brain researcher from Bar-Ilan University, publishes a satirical column in 'Zman Yisrael' after the 2026 Knesset elections. As part of the 'Awards Ceremony', he ironically praises Israeli politicians: Itamar Ben-Gvir for raising the voter turnout in the Arab community; Yariv Levin and Simcha Rothman for teaching civics at protests; Yoav Kisch for calling the education crisis 'nonsense'; Benjamin Netanyahu for his warning that 'Arabs are flocking to the polls' which actually increased Arab turnout; the Haredim for the exemption from military service law during wartime; Bezalel Smotrich for the cost of living; generals Vinter, Hendel, and Zalicha who united below the electoral threshold; Benny Gantz for withdrawing from the race a week before the elections; Naftali Bennett for a repetitive speech; Gadi Eisenkot for building a large party without shouting; Aryeh Deri for Shas's decline despite the growth of the Haredi population; Tally Gotliv for moving to Otzma Yehudit; and Mansour Abbas for placing a Jew in second place on the Ra'am list. The column ends with a call to support a free press.
