Pro-Palestinian activist group Global Health for Palestine distributed pamphlets at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London, condemning Lord John Mann's review of antisemitism in the NHS, as reported by The Telegraph on Saturday. The pamphlet labeled the antisemitism training recommended by Mann's review as 'pro-Israel indoctrination,' described the IHRA definition of antisemitism as 'discredited and hopelessly flawed,' and called Mann's review racist. It also claimed that under the review's recommendations, NHS employees would be barred from displaying any Palestinian colors, flags, or symbols, and that all criticism of Israel, Zionism, 'apartheid,' or 'the genocide' would be prohibited. The pamphlet alleged that 'hundreds' of NHS workers have been 'threatened, bullied, or victimized' for expressing solidarity with Palestine. In response, Lord Mann told The Telegraph that 'The NHS isn't a place for people's extremist politicking' and that such activity could deter people from using the NHS. A Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust spokesman stated that campaigning activity is not permitted on their premises, and security removed the individuals and destroyed the leaflets. The chairman of Global Health for Palestine, Dr. Huda Mahmoud, argued that banning Palestinian symbols is a form of cultural erasure.
