Pro-Palestine Action post by wife of aide to British PM doesn’t warrant probe — cops

London's Metropolitan Police said a social media post by Sarah Helm, wife of British PM Andy Burnham's national security adviser, backing banned activist group Palestine Action did not warrant a criminal investigation. Police ruled the post did not meet the criminal threshold.

London's Metropolitan Police said on Saturday that a social media post by Sarah Helm, the wife of British Prime Minister Andy Burnham's national security adviser, backing the banned activist group Palestine Action did not warrant a criminal investigation. Helm, a journalist and author, posted on X Thursday, "God help us authors who support Palestine and Palestine Action," after publisher Faber said Irish author Sally Rooney cannot sell her books in the UK due to her support for the group. Palestine Action was banned as a terrorist organization by the UK government last year under Burnham's predecessor, Keir Starmer, following a June 2025 break-in at the Royal Air Force's Brize Norton base. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson initially said the post was being assessed, but later ruled it "did not meet the criminal threshold." The Campaign Against Antisemitism had called for an investigation and urged Powell to denounce the rhetoric. Helm is a long-time critic of Israel.
