Poll: Majority of Israeli public supports regional agreement that includes a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

A new poll by Women Wage Peace and iPanel finds that 59% of the Israeli public supports a regional political agreement that includes a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. 62.5% believe that military achievements alone do not ensure long-term security, and 68% think the government should initiate an agreement rather than wait.

A new poll conducted for the Women Wage Peace movement by iPanel finds that 59% of the Israeli public supports a regional political agreement that includes a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This figure is nearly identical to the 60% support for a regional agreement without a solution to the conflict, indicating that including the Palestinian issue does not deter most of the public. The survey was conducted between August 16 and 24, 2026, and included 1,473 respondents, of whom 388 were in a representative sample. 62.5% of respondents agree that military achievements alone cannot ensure long-term security. 68% believe that the Israeli government should initiate a regional agreement rather than wait for one to be concluded over its head. Alongside support for an arrangement, the public sets clear security conditions: 94% define the dismantling of Hamas's military and governmental capabilities in Gaza as an important or necessary condition, and 94% demand maintaining the IDF's freedom of security action. Orna Shargai, co-director of the movement, called on election candidates to present a clear political plan.
