The officers signaled him to stop, but he fled, endangered the lives of road users, abandoned the scooter and tried to escape on foot. He was arrested and taken for questioning.
An 18-year-old Arab young man was arrested after a dramatic chase in the village of Yassif in the Western Galilee, after placing his 7-year-old cousin on a motorcycle without a helmet. The incident occurred during a targeted enforcement operation by Border Police motorcyclists in the coastal sector. The soldiers spotted the rider and passenger without helmets and signaled him to stop. Instead of complying, the suspect fled through the village streets, drove recklessly, drove against traffic and endangered his life, the child's life and the lives of road users. After a focused chase, he abandoned the scooter and tried to escape on foot towards a nearby house, but the soldiers pursued him and arrested him. During the field investigation, it emerged that the passenger was his cousin, only 7 years old, without protective gear. The suspect was transferred to police investigation and is expected to face heavy fines and traffic points.
