Only nine fighters completed the Yamam training course, out of more than a thousand candidates who began the process. After approximately nine months of training, the fighters were certified and joined the national counter-terrorism unit. The candidates, veterans of combat and special units, underwent rigorous screening and were trained in counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, and assault operations.

After approximately nine months of training, the fighters were certified and joined the unit's ranks. The candidates, veterans of combat and special units, underwent rigorous screening and were trained in counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, and assault operations. Israel Border Police Commander, Superintendent Barak Yitzhak, addressed the fighters and said: "You are joining a unit that since October 7 has redefined the concepts of courage and devotion. You are the answer to the citizens of the State of Israel and the entire world - to our strength and our steadfastness."
