A massive recall has been announced in the United States for nearly six million French press coffee makers of the Bodum brand, due to the risk of the glass carafe shattering during use. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a warning that stirring coffee with a metal spoon could crack the glass and cause severe burns. The company reported 70 breakage incidents, including 48 reports of burns. The products were sold at retailers such as Target, Walmart, and Amazon from 1974 through October 2026, priced between $15 and $65. Consumers were urged to immediately stop using metal utensils and to receive replacement plastic spoons and warning labels free of charge. The models mentioned, including Brazil, Kenya, and Chambord, are also sold in Israel, but it has not yet been verified whether they belong to the same production series, and no official recall notice has been published in Israel.
