Binance announced that the coverage ratio of digital assets affected by the hack on October 29 has risen to 90%, after allocating $6.34 billion to compensate losses, confirming that users will not bear financial damages.

Binance, the cryptocurrency exchange platform, announced on Saturday that the coverage ratio of digital assets affected by the cyberattack on October 29 has risen to 90%, compared to 80% in its previous update, after allocating financial resources to compensate for the estimated $6.3 billion hack losses. In its third security update, the platform said it has fully restored reserve coverage for ten major cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and BNB, confirming that users will not bear the financial losses resulting from the attack. According to Reuters, the company allocated about $6.34 billion from its resources to cover stolen assets, as part of its efforts to restore affected digital reserves and ensure customer balances are covered. Binance explained that the compensation process relies on its financial resources, including the Secure Asset Fund for Users and its corporate treasury, noting that work continues to cover the remaining percentage of affected assets. Restoring reserve coverage does not mean recovering the cryptocurrencies seized by attackers, as the company relies on providing alternative assets to compensate for the shortfall in its balances, while simultaneously attempting to track, freeze, and recover stolen funds. The attack dates back to October 29, when Binance's hot wallet, a digital wallet connected to the internet used for daily transactions, was hacked, allowing unauthorized withdrawals.
