Occupation seizes the Ibrahimi Mosque during holidays and bans the call to prayer

The Israeli occupation is preparing to impose a complete closure on the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron and seize it entirely during the Jewish holidays, in a systematic annual procedure. The acting director of the mosque, Munjed al-Jaabari, confirmed that the occupation prevents Palestinian worshippers from entering for about ten days, and continues to ban the call to prayer since last July, in an ongoing violation.

The acting director of the mosque, Munjed al-Jaabari, said that the occupation army informed the mosque's caretakers of its intention to seize it entirely, noting that occupation forces and settlers seized all its parts for several days during the past week. He explained that the occupation imposes its control over the mosque for about ten full days annually, and prevents Palestinian worshippers from entering, as part of an ongoing policy to impose temporal and spatial division. In another violation, the occupation continues to ban the call to prayer since July 21, under the pretext of work on the mosque courtyard ceiling, while its forces took over the prayer call room. According to the 'Mati' center, the ban on the call to prayer has entered its 84th day, depriving worshippers of hearing the call for about 420 prayers. These violations coincide with repeated incursions by settlers and the performance of Talmudic rituals around the mosque, in efforts to Judaize one of the most prominent Islamic landmarks in Hebron. Palestinians warn that this escalation targets the identity of the mosque and the right of Muslims to access it.
