"Now he understands": Yaron Zelicha explains the "turnaround" in his attitude toward Yoaz Hendel

Prof. Yaron Zelicha, who united with Yoaz Hendel for a joint list, explains in an interview why he changed his attitude toward him. He supports the enlistment of Haredim, presents an economic plan including the elimination of tariffs and dismantling cartels, and clarifies that if he is not appointed Finance Minister, he will sit in the opposition and "turn the country upside down for them."

Prof. Yaron Zelicha, the former Accountant General, gives an interview to 'Israel Hayom' and explains the dramatic change in his attitude toward Yoaz Hendel, with whom he united for a joint list. According to him, two things changed: Hendel's understanding that the electoral base of both stems from their shared positions on issues of the cost of living, governmental corruption, and Haredi enlistment. Zelicha supports Haredi enlistment and argues that there is no contradiction between his economic stance and the demand for enlistment. He presents a comprehensive economic plan including the elimination of tariffs, dismantling cartels, abolishing the retained earnings tax and the surtax, and an annual reduction of 1% in VAT and income tax. Zelicha clarifies that if he is not appointed Finance Minister, he will sit in the opposition and become a nuisance. He supports the establishment of a state commission of inquiry into the events of October 7, but does not trust the President of the Supreme Court to appoint its members.
