Bar Kupershtein in a moving initiative ahead of Yom Kippur: "It was important to me"

Former hostage Bar Kupershtein initiated a first-of-its-kind evening of thanksgiving and selichot at Hostages Square ahead of Yom Kippur. In an interview with Channel 14, he said the goal is to thank everyone who fought for them and to include the murdered who have not returned. The event aims to recreate the selichot prayers held in the Hamas tunnels.

Former hostage Bar Kupershtein initiated a first-of-its-kind evening of thanksgiving and selichot, to be held this evening (Thursday) at Hostages Square ahead of Yom Kippur. In a special interview with Channel 14, Kupershtein said the main goal is "to say thank you to everyone who did and fought for us." He emphasized that it was important for him to include the murdered in the event: "Those who did not return to us – and there is nothing more fitting than a selichot evening for the elevation of their souls." According to him, the moving event will be a true closure for the participating former hostages: "We will be able to recreate the selichot we held in the tunnel with all of Israel." Kupershtein shared that in his personal prayer on the upcoming Yom Kippur, he intends to say "a lot of thanks for the miracle He did with me and also to say sorry." The article recalls that previously, on the fast of Tisha B'Av, Kupershtein fasted with the other hostages in the tunnel, saying: "We said maybe this will help our release, maybe the Creator of the world will release us – and we were indeed released."
