Not Only Qatar: The Senior Orientalist Reveals Who Else Tried to Influence the Elections
Orientalist Yoni Ben Menachem casts doubt on Qatar's denial of interference in Israel's elections, and warns of the principality's intelligence and influence mechanism. In an interview with Channel 14, he alleges election bribery through clan leaders in Arab society, and accuses the Palestinian Authority of covert action to topple the right-wing government.
Senior orientalist and researcher Yoni Ben Menachem was interviewed this morning on Channel 14's program "Israel This Morning" and addressed the ballot box terror affair and suspicions of Qatari involvement in funding election bribery in Israel. Ben Menachem stated that Qatar's official denial has no credibility, and warned of the principality's intelligence and influence mechanism. According to him, Qatar attempted to topple Arab regimes in the Middle East together with the Muslim Brotherhood, and encouraged terrorist operations against the Egyptian regime. Ben Menachem described a method of buying votes through clan leaders in Arab society, claiming this is common and unsurprising. Additionally, he claimed that the Palestinian Authority acted covertly to topple the right-wing government, engaging in double-dealing and hypocrisy. He called on the government to dismantle the Palestinian Authority from the 70,000 armed men it maintains under the title "Palestinian Police," and warned of the security threat to communities along the seam line and settlements in Judea and Samaria.
