The Supreme Court will convene next Thursday to deliberate on the disqualifications decided by the Central Elections Committee: the disqualification of Balad chairman Sami Abu Shahada, MK Ofer Kassif, and the entire Joint List. Two separate hearings before a panel of nine judges will determine whether to overturn the political decision.
The Supreme Court will convene next Thursday, October 1, 2026, to deliberate on all disqualifications from running in the elections decided by the Central Elections Committee. The first hearing will address the case of Sami Abu Shahada, chairman of Balad, before a panel of nine judges headed by President Amit. Subsequently, the disqualification of MK Ofer Kassif and the entire list he is expected to run on—the Joint List—will be brought for discussion. The deputy president of the Supreme Court, Sohlberg, also supported the disqualification of Abu Shahada. Representatives of Otzma Yehudit, Minister Ben Gvir, representatives of Likud, the Attorney General, and representatives of Kassif and the Joint List have been summoned to the hearings. The decision was made by a political body, and now nine judges will decide whether to overturn it.
