A new report by the Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI), published in The Algemeiner newspaper, documents 139 sanctions, restrictions and diplomatic measures against Israel in 64 countries and international bodies. According to the report, 94 of the non-academic measures are still in effect, including restrictions on arms sales, trade bans and sanctions against individuals and organizations. Much of the activity is being advanced in Europe: Britain has announced new restrictions related to settlements in Judea and Samaria, including a ban on importing products from them and sanctions against entities involved in their expansion. France and Canada have announced they will join similar measures, and the European Union is considering reducing economic and political cooperation with Israel. The institute's CEO, Dr. Shuki Friedman, warns that the fear of additional restrictions may deter foreign investors and harm trade ties and technological collaborations.
