New Qatari-Pakistani proposal and escalating tension in Hormuz

Informed sources revealed a Qatari-Pakistani mediation that presented a proposal to resolve the crisis between Washington and Tehran, involving the release of six billion dollars of frozen Iranian funds in exchange for allowing a secret visit to nuclear sites by the International Atomic Energy Agency, amid escalating tension in the Strait of Hormuz.

Diplomatic efforts to contain the tension between Washington and Tehran continue, amid a wide gap between the conditions of the two sides and field escalation in the Strait of Hormuz. Informed sources revealed a Qatari-Pakistani mediation that presented a compromise settlement proposal that has US approval and prior Iranian response, aimed at de-escalation and preparing the ground for resuming negotiations. The proposal includes the release of six billion dollars of Iranian funds frozen in Qatari banks, in exchange for Iran's agreement to allow a secret and unannounced visit to its nuclear sites by the International Atomic Energy Agency. The sources expected an announcement of a breakthrough within the current week. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei confirmed that the Manir talks are related to the negotiation file but focus primarily on bilateral relations between Tehran and Islamabad. These moves come amid continued stalemate in the negotiation track between the United States and Iran, following the failure of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides last June, amid fears of renewed military confrontation despite the cessation of US strikes on Iran since the beginning of September.
