Netanyahu prepares a lure for Eisenkot: the surprising plan to form the next government

Sources close to Netanyahu are advancing a plan for a unity government with Eisenkot, including passing the conscription law without the Haredim initially and a possible rotation. The Change Camp rejects the idea.

Sources close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are advancing a plan to form a unity government with Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the Yashar party, despite his previous commitment not to sit under Netanyahu. According to the proposed outline, the government would first pass the conscription law without the participation of the Haredi parties in the coalition, and then open the possibility of bringing them in. Those around Netanyahu claim that Eisenkot will not survive another round and may lose his status as head of the bloc, and therefore will eventually agree to join. However, the initiators admit they have not received any signal from him of willingness to discuss it. The Change Camp flatly rejects the possibility, calling it "complete suicide, both morally and politically." Currently, both blocs are awaiting the final results, expected to become clear by the end of the week.
