About 100 cadets from Haredi pre-military academies completed a grueling week of navigation in the hills, which included a daily march of about 30 kilometers, map reading, setting up tents, and sleeping under the open sky. Rabbi Micha Perl, head of the academies department at the 'Netzach' organization, said the cadets stood up bravely and that the ability to read a map would allow them to advance in more advanced series. The 'Netzach' organization operates seven Haredi academies across the country, and notes that the navigation week is part of a preparation package for meaningful combat service, while maintaining a Haredi lifestyle. The cadets arrive at their platoons as a cohesive unit and receive close support throughout their service.
