Matriceelf, a company from Tel Aviv University, has developed a technology for implanting an engineered spinal cord, to be called AGAM after Staff Sergeant Agam Naim, a paramedic who fell in Rafah. The personalized neural implant, produced from the patient's own cells, is intended to help paralyzed individuals regain function. The first human trial is expected within the coming year, in collaboration with Loewenstein Rehabilitation Center and Sheba Medical Center.

Matriceelf, a company from Tel Aviv University, has developed an innovative technology for implanting an engineered spinal cord, to be called AGAM after Staff Sergeant Agam Naim, a paramedic who fell in Rafah. The technology is based on producing a personalized neural implant from the patient's own cells, designed to create a biological bridge at the site of the spinal cord injury and support the restoration of neural connections. Using components from the patient themselves is intended to reduce implant rejection. The development was carried out in the laboratory of Professor Tal Dvir at the Sagol Center for Tissue Engineering at Tel Aviv University. The company is collaborating with Loewenstein Rehabilitation Medical Center and Sheba Medical Center. The president and founder of the company, Dr. Alon Sinai, explained that the choice to commemorate Agam Naim stems from her character, which dedicated her life to caring for others. The first human trial is expected within the coming year and will be the first surgery in the world to use this technology.
